Plus, every premium component we install carries the full manufacturer warranty, passed through directly to you.

What SPD's 2-Year Workmanship Warranty Covers

Workmanship warranty covers the quality of our installation work — the labor side of the job. If anything we did during installation creates a problem within two years, we come back and fix it at no charge.

Installation Quality

If a connection we made fails, a circuit we wired isn't performing correctly, or a fixture we installed has issues caused by installation error, we return and correct it. This includes wiring connections, breaker installations, panel mounting, conduit runs, and fixture installations.

Code Compliance

Every job we complete is code-compliant at the time of installation. If a code compliance issue is identified during the warranty period that traces back to our installation, we correct it at no charge — including any necessary inspection re-coordination.

Permit & Inspection Closure

We pull permits and coordinate inspections for every job that requires them. Final permit closure documentation is part of every project. If a permit-related issue surfaces during the warranty period because of how we documented or executed the work, we resolve it.

Workmanship warranty applies to the labor and installation work SPD Electric performed. It runs from the date of project completion (or final inspection passage, whichever is later) for two full years.

If you experience any issue you believe relates to our installation work during this period, call us at (909) 247-2211. We schedule a free assessment, diagnose the issue, and either repair under warranty or document the issue and provide options if it falls outside warranty scope.

Manufacturer Warranties (Pass Through to You)

The equipment we install carries its own manufacturer warranty. These warranties pass through directly to you as the property owner — SPD Electric handles the registration documentation when applicable.

01

Eaton, Square D & Siemens Electrical Panels — 10-Year Limited Warranty

The premium panels we install carry 10-year limited manufacturer warranties against defects. Eaton and Square D panels are stocked at every electrical supply house in California, making future service or expansion straightforward. We register your panel installation when applicable and provide all manufacturer documentation.

02

EV Chargers — 3-Year Manufacturer Warranty (Typical)

Tesla Wall Connector, Wallbox Pulsar Plus, ChargePoint Home Flex, JuiceBox, Grizzl-E, and Emporia chargers all carry 3-year manufacturer warranties (specific terms vary by brand). For warranty registration, the manufacturer may require proof of professional installation by a licensed electrician — SPD provides this documentation.

03

Standby Generators — 5-Year Limited Warranty

Generac and Kohler residential standby generators carry 5-year limited manufacturer warranties (premium models extend further). Generator installations also require professional installation documentation for warranty validity, which SPD provides.

04

Whole-House Surge Protection — Limited Warranty (Varies)

Whole-house surge protection devices carry manufacturer warranties ranging from 2 to lifetime depending on brand and model. We document the installation and provide manufacturer registration paperwork.

05

Light Fixtures, Smoke Detectors & GFCI Outlets — Manufacturer Limited Warranties

Standard residential electrical components carry manufacturer warranties typically ranging from 1 to 5 years. We provide manufacturer documentation with every installation.

We deliberately install premium equipment from manufacturers who back their products. Every brand we install — Eaton, Square D, Siemens for panels; Tesla, Wallbox, ChargePoint, JuiceBox, Grizzl-E for EV chargers; Generac and Kohler for generators — has been chosen for both quality and warranty reliability.

If a manufacturer defect surfaces during the warranty period, you have two paths: contact the manufacturer directly using the warranty documentation we provided, or call SPD Electric and we’ll handle the manufacturer claim coordination on your behalf.

How to Make a Warranty Claim

01

Call SPD Electric

Owner Samuel personally answers warranty calls during business hours. Describe the issue you’re experiencing. We’ll determine whether it sounds like a workmanship issue (covered by SPD’s warranty) or an equipment issue (handled through the manufacturer).

02

Free Diagnostic Assessment

We schedule a free on-site diagnostic — typically same-week. We inspect the issue, identify the cause, and determine whether it’s covered by warranty. There’s no charge for the assessment regardless of whether the issue is covered.

03

Warranty Repair or Manufacturer Coordination

If the issue is workmanship-related, we make the repair at no charge. If it’s a manufacturer defect, we coordinate the warranty claim with the manufacturer on your behalf. If it’s neither (homeowner modification, unrelated electrical issue, etc.), we provide options and pricing for repair if you’d like us to handle it.

04

Documentation

We document the warranty visit and any work performed. Future warranty work references this documentation. Your project file is maintained for the full warranty period plus the manufacturer warranty periods of all installed equipment.

What's Not Covered Under Warranty

Honest scope on what warranty does and doesn’t include — so there are no surprises if something happens.

Workmanship warranty does NOT cover:

  • Damage from owner modifications — If you or another contractor alters the work after installation, that work falls outside SPD’s warranty.
  • Acts of God — Lightning strikes, flooding, fire, earthquake, and other natural events. These are typically covered by homeowner’s insurance.
  • Pre-existing wiring not installed by SPD — Issues with wiring or equipment that pre-dated our installation, even if discovered during a warranty visit.
  • Wear-and-tear consumables — Light bulbs, batteries in smoke detectors, and other items expected to be replaced periodically.
  • Code changes after installation — Work that was code-compliant when installed but no longer meets current code due to subsequent code revisions.
  • Power supply or utility issues — Voltage problems originating from SCE or other utility infrastructure rather than from SPD’s installation.
  • Unauthorized repairs by other contractors — If another electrician modifies SPD’s work, the warranty on that work is void.
  • Cosmetic damage from normal use — Scratches, dents, or finish wear on installed equipment over time.

This list isn’t intended to exclude legitimate warranty claims — it’s intended to set honest expectations. The vast majority of issues that surface during the warranty period are workmanship-related and we cover them. Edge cases get evaluated honestly during the free diagnostic.

Why SPD's Warranty Matters

01

Same Owner Years Later

Samuel founded SPD Electric in 2023 and personally runs every job. When you call about a warranty issue in 2027, you’ll reach the same person who oversaw the installation. No franchise transitions, no contractor turnover, no “the owner who did your work doesn’t work here anymore.”

02

Real California Licensed Contractor

SPD holds an active C-10 California Electrical Contractors License (#1116728), verifiable at CSLB.ca.gov. California license verification gives you legal recourse beyond the warranty itself — including state-level complaint and resolution processes if needed. Unlicensed contractors don’t offer this protection.

03

Documented & Permitted Work

Every permitted installation we complete has a paper trail — permit applications, inspection passage records, manufacturer registration. If you sell your home, this documentation supports resale value and insurance compliance. If a future warranty issue surfaces, the documentation supports the claim.

California's Implied Warranties (For Your Reference)

Beyond SPD’s 2-year workmanship warranty, California state law provides additional warranties that apply to all licensed contractor work — independent of any warranty we offer.

California law provides for implied warranties on construction work performed by licensed contractors. These warranties exist by operation of law and apply to every licensed contractor, including SPD Electric. They do not replace our 2-year workmanship warranty — they exist alongside it.

The state-level implied warranties are not something most contractors discuss publicly, and SPD doesn’t actively advertise them as part of our service offering. Our practical focus is the 2-year workmanship warranty we provide directly.

If you ever have a serious dispute about completed work, you have multiple paths: SPD’s direct warranty (the simplest and fastest), the manufacturer warranty for any equipment defect, and state-level recourse through the California Contractors State License Board. We’re confident our work won’t require the latter — but it exists as a backstop.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does SPD Electric's workmanship warranty last?

SPD Electric provides a 2-year workmanship warranty on all installation work. The warranty runs from the date of project completion (or final inspection passage, whichever is later) for two full years.

The workmanship warranty covers the quality of our installation work — connections, mounting, code compliance, and the labor side of the job. Manufacturer warranties cover defects in the equipment itself (panels, EV chargers, generators, etc.). Both apply to your installation. If a panel develops an internal defect, that’s a manufacturer warranty claim. If a connection we made loosens, that’s a workmanship warranty claim.

No. SPD’s 2-year workmanship warranty activates automatically upon project completion — no registration required. For manufacturer warranties on installed equipment, we provide all registration documentation. Some manufacturers require online registration to extend warranty terms; we hand you the paperwork to do this if applicable.

The 2-year workmanship warranty applies to the work we performed, not to a specific person. If you sell your home, the warranty continues on the work itself for the remainder of the 2-year period. The new owner can call SPD with a warranty claim if needed. Manufacturer warranties on equipment typically transfer with the property as well.

Once another contractor modifies our installation, our warranty on the modified portion is void. This isn’t a contractor turf issue — it’s a quality control issue. We can’t warrant work that someone else changed. The unmodified portions of our original work remain under warranty.

For non-emergency warranty issues, we typically schedule the free diagnostic visit within the same week. For emergency situations (no power, exposed wiring, smoke smell), we respond as quickly as possible — typically same-day. Call (909) 247-2211.

Yes. The 2-year workmanship warranty is documented in our standard service agreement that you sign before work begins. Manufacturer warranty documentation is provided with the final paperwork at project completion. Both are part of your project file maintained by SPD.

If we visit for a warranty claim and determine the issue isn’t workmanship-related, the diagnostic visit is still free. If you’d like us to repair the issue (covered or not), we provide pricing options. There’s no penalty or charge for raising a warranty question that turns out not to be covered.

We extended SPD’s warranty from 1 year to 2 years because we believe in our work. Most workmanship issues — when they happen — surface within the first 90 days. By the end of year one, the work has either proven solid or hasn’t. Extending to year two gives you additional confidence at no cost to us, and reflects our actual confidence in the quality of our installations.
